Exit poll: Why political parties reject it?

UNTIL TODAY evening, we Indians will have nothing much to do except speculate on the outcome of the election. Some confidently speculate on the next Prime Minister. Yet some speculate confidently on the party that will form the government. But in reality, the exact opposite may happen. In the last Lok Sabha election, the party that came second in terms of the number of seats won was asked to form the government.

According to the findings of the exit poll in respect of the 2009 election, the Congress party will emerge as the single largest party. The UPA will emerge as the largest alliance. The number game has become the centre of all attraction and concern.
